Final Fantasy Tactics General FAQ ver 0.1 by Adam Hunter (BootZ) and corrected by HUIS Francois (Tanus) =============================================================================== ========== support your import dealers! buy original discs! =============================================================================== ========== I'm not going to say this info is copyrighted, but please, if you reprint give me credit! =============================================================================== ========== Additons Since ver 0.01: Added info on the shop menus. What's in this FAQ? This FAQ explains MOST of the in-battle and map mode options. It also gives a little strategy on the first couple of battles (which are actually very easy!). What do I need? Well, for one, the in-battle options (the section where you can change control type, etc.) Also, I'm having trouble finding out how to gain more 'ablilities' with my characters. If anyone has info they would like to contribute, please feel free! Hopefully if we all work together we can make this great game even more enjoyable! I. Starting The Game! A. 1st screen: enter name *press L2/R2 to change style of lettering L1/R1 to move the cursor SQUARE to delete space START when done, then 1st option is Ok and 2nd is to cancel. 2nd screen: enter birth date *press D-PAD to choose Mo/Yr Your date gives your zodiac sign. The sign has an effet on the other signs. If you like someone (friend or ennemy) you will heal him better, or will inflict more damage. In the opposite, if your sign hasn't a good affinity, when you heal, curse (or other action) you will have less success (less HP, less success pourcentage than others). To know your good and bad affinity signs, use the help option (select button) on your sign. CIRCLE is good affinity, CROSS is the bad one. B. Then comes awesome CG, enjoy! II. In-Battle Mode A. When is your charcter's ACTIVE TURN (AT, depend of the speed) you can choose: #1: MOVE *blue area is moving range #2: ACTION ABILITY from your job (use JP=job point to buy Action abilities) SECOND ABILITY from other JOB. You can choose if your character has gain many JOB level up. See "JOB CHANGE" to know your choice. You have to buy action abilities first if you want to use them in battle. #3: PASS TURN (DONE) #4. CHARACTER STATUS #5. AUTO BATTLE SET MANUAL CONTROL (default) CHOOSE A TARGET and your character will chase to attack him. ATTACK on the nearest ennemy SUPPORT an other character (I'm not sure) RUN AWAY from battle. B. TRIANGLE button #1: SHOWS UPCOMING TURNS (very import if you cast a magic which takes many turns to take effect). For example, you target an AREA (not a enemy) with Thunder magic to touch multi targets. The magic has effect on the 5th turn, for example. If the enemies you targeted has their AT before your 5th turn, they could go away of your area. So, see this menu before cast magic. *ally in brown, enemy in red #2: OVERALL STATUS SCREEN *move to character using L1/R1 and hit: L2/R2 to show in the order: HP, MP, CT (charge time for AT), LvEXP,Brave/Faith CIRCLE to view individual equipment and Command Abilities. Hints/Tips *if you are ever in doubt as to what an item or skill may do, the function will be listed above your character's stats; for example: an attack would say "-20 HP", or something to that effect. *on the 1st battle of chapter 1, take out the item carriers first so they won't be able to heal the swordsmen and other enemies. *eventually after a character is killed, they will turn into a treasure chest which usually contains an item or weapon. *you could attack your friend character to gain EXP and JP. Throw stone give same EXP and JP as magic or a strike, and you do low damage. So, circle the last ennemy (dont let him move) and heals him sometime with your characters allround (you gain also EXP and JP for healing ennemies). Throw stone on him, or a friend who has high protection (knight, samourai). But only throw if you are on his back or his side. You will have 100% to touch. If you are in front, you could miss.
